'ZDNET Recommends': What exactly does it mean?
ZDNET's recommendations are based on many hours of testing, research, and comparison shopping. We gather data from the best available sources, including vendor and retailer listings as well as other relevant and independent reviews sites. And we pore over customer reviews to find out what matters to real people who already own and use the products and services we’re assessing.
When you click through from our site to a retailer and buy a product or service, we may earn affiliate commissions. This helps support our work, but does not affect what we cover or how, and it does not affect the price you pay. Neither ZDNET nor the author are compensated for these independent reviews. Indeed, we follow strict guidelines that ensure our editorial content is never influenced by advertisers.
ZDNET's editorial team writes on behalf of you, our reader. Our goal is to deliver the most accurate information and the most knowledgeable advice possible in order to help you make smarter buying decisions on tech gear and a wide array of products and services. Our editors thoroughly review and fact-check every article to ensure that our content meets the highest standards. If we have made an error or published misleading information, we will correct or clarify the article. If you see inaccuracies in our content, please report the mistake via this form.
My favorite security system has no monthly fees and is 36% off with this Amazon Spring Deal

The bundle includes two wireless cameras and a hub for local storage and AI features.
Amazon is holding its Big Spring Sale, featuring some of the best discounts we've ever seen on smart devices, including the Eufy Security EufyCam 3 and HomeBase 3 bundle. For a limited time, you can get two 4K-resolution wireless, solar-powered cameras and a smart hub for local storage and AI image processing for $300 -- a $170 discount off an already discounted price (the bundle's original price was $550).

These outdoor cameras are easy to install. They are completely wireless, so you don't have to worry about placing them near an outlet or hardwiring them. During setup, you can charge the cameras with the included USB-C cables and place them where they receive direct sunlight. Each camera can use up to six months on a single charge, but direct sunlight can give them forever power.
I've had these two cameras surveilling outside my home for 2.5 years and have only had to charge the north-facing one a handful of times. I've never had to charge the camera on the south-facing side of my home, as the direct sunlight it gets is enough to keep it powered year-round.
The HomeBase 3 goes inside the house, plugged in at all times as a smart hub for the cameras outside. It's the local storage for all your footage, so you don't have to worry about paying monthly fees or signing up for subscriptions for cloud storage. The HomeBase 3 has 16GB of internal storage, expandable to 16TB, with a hard drive disk.

But the HomeBase 3 also works to process images with AI and can learn to recognize different people it sees often. So it can identify strangers or household members for you, letting you know if 'Dad' or a stranger is at the door. It also functions as an alarm for your Eufy Security system, so it's where the siren goes off when the system is triggered, like if someone tries to steal one of your cameras.
This bundle of two EufyCam 3 and one HomeBase 3 is currently on sale for 36% off, available for $300. The bundle initially launched for $550, though it now sells for $470, 2.5 years later.
